Portraits of Success

"...a
silicone roof system was selected ...because it promised singular
advantages in terms of works life, ease and speed off application,
and water resistance.."
When
Ford's corporate facilities people approved a new roof for
the firm's Latham, NY Tractor Division depot, they did so
to solve a long-term problem resulting from long-term deterioration
of the original tar-and-gravel built-up roof.
What they got, in addition to the ultimate solution
to that leakage problem, was an energy-saving system that
in effect would help pay for the new roof over a period of
years.(more)
"The
polyurethane silicone roofing system is an exceptional value,
offering tremendous energy savings and very low maintenance.
Our stores that have this system have not experienced a single
leak."
Thomas Kelley
Buildings Operations Manager
J. C. Penney Company
Merrill
Lynch & Co., Inc. wanted to be certain they made the right
selection when they recently began investigating different
roofing systems. In a way, choosing a roof is like choosing
a stock broker; you need to protect your investments.
In this case the investment was over 100 million dollars
worth of computer equipment at the St. John's Building in
lower westside Manhattan.

At
the Field Museum, Chicago, IL, a GE Silicone Roof eliminated
the water seepage that threatened its priceless collections.
The 220,000-sq.-ft. roof system was installed over existing
BUR, on a complex of interconnecting pavilions, decks and slopes
of varying heights. (more)

This aging conventional roof had obvious problems coping with
New York's varied environment resulting in leaks and high
maintenance. |
The
new GE Silicones roof provides the NYCTA with seamless, self-flashing
protection against leaking water and energy. |
| At the
AMF Bowling products plant in Shelby, Ohio, with the help of
General Electric Silicone Roofing System and other energy
conservation measures, heating costs were reduced in 1977 by
almost $24,000.*
AMF's Stan Condon comments, "In 1972, with the built-up
roof, we were using 4.12 thousand cubic feet of gas per degree
day. In 1977, with our new energy conservation program it
has dropped to 1.94 thousand cubic feet."
